If only all stories behind guesthouses could be as inspiring as this! A mountain guesthouse transformed into a popular restaurant for excursionists by the family’s mother and father. Their son trained as a chef and, as all good chefs do, travelled the world. His itinerant training led Guntmar Öttl to Dieter Müller, among others, a famous German chef. There, he met his wife Dorothee. Upon returning home to South Tyrol, the pair tried to use some of what they'd learnt in the family business. Slowly to start with – as they didn’t want to scare return guests – until they started implementing more and more changes. The result? The Jäger today is a beloved eating spot for hikers and gourmands, featuring both traditional meals as well as more refined dishes. The restaurant is a veritable family-run business – Guntmar’s parents work there, as does his sister Evelyn. On a hot, summer’s day, head to the restaurant to enjoy the beautiful view of the valley from the garden while tucking into a delicious meal!
