Portonovo is a picturesque bay just south of Ancona resting at the foot of Monte Conero. The bay is a favourite day-trip destination and, for years, small stalls have peppered the beach, ready to serve simple but mouth-watering seafood dishes. Among these stalls, the Clandestino stands out. Moreno Cedroni is the Clandestino’s restaurant, and the award-winning chef also manages the Madonnina del Pescatore, a two-star venue in nearby Senigallia. The Clandestino has been operational since 2000, serving mouth-watering seafood dishes set against the romantic ambience of Portonovo’s bay. A welcoming and informal setting which reflects the tradition of the beach stalls. It’s piece de resistance are Susci, an Italian interpretation of the Japanese classic. The stall also serves many other delicious dishes just a stone’s throw from the sea.
